On a beautiful but chilly December 3rd 2016, many of the community’s most generous hearts gathered in an enchanted English Garden for the Bloomington Hospital Foundation’s annual Gala. Nearly 400 guests enjoyed an evening of dinner and dancing under a canopy of lights filled with fragrant floral arrangements.
The guests came together with a common purpose: to celebrate past accomplishments and to impact the future of local healthcare on the Bloomington community. The evening began with a series of meaningful toasts that paired departments which have benefited from Foundation gifts alongside the patients or family members who have been impacted by these contributions. Those recognized included the IU Health Olcott Center, IU Health Hospice House, the NICU and the Children’s Therapy Center.
“The toasts were a fun way for us to celebrate the generosity of this community,” said Jon Barada, President, Bloomington Hospital Foundation. “It was a quick way to commemorate some of our past accomplishments, and having those who benefited from the purchase of a piece of equipment or an upgrade of services was a way to show that donations really do have a local impact on people right here in Bloomington.”
The dinner portion of the evening progressed with more toasts, the ever-popular (and sold out!) raffle, guest speakers and a video showing the progress of the new campus and what the future of healthcare may look like. The program ended with a kick-off of the Foundation’s 50th anniversary celebration which officially begins in 2017.
After the program, guests enjoyed nearly three hours of dancing the music from the band Soul Street. The band was described by guests as “amazing,” and there were likely a lot of sore dancing feet on Sunday!
